CANVAS

Canvas is simply a place where I house SOME of our classwork. It does NOT contain an accurate reflection of students' grades. Parents/Guardians ARE able to join Canvas as class observers. DCS uses Infinite Campus for student grades. Parents/Guardians can contact the school to receive access to their student's student's account.

ABOUT ME

I am proud to be both an alumna and teacher at West Davidson High School. After my father retired from the military, my family moved to North Carolina, and after attending eight different schools, I was grateful to graduate from West Davidson—a place I am now honored to call home again and a place I have watched nurture each of my children, all of whom graduated from West Davidson and went on to attend college.

I entered education through the lateral entry pathway, beginning my career teaching middle school Language Arts and Science, where I quickly discovered teaching was my calling. I later transitioned to high school, teaching alternative school, teen parent programs, and all levels of English Language Arts.

Now in my 26th year as an educator and my 15th year at West Davidson, I serve as English Department Chair and Beta Club Sponsor. I hold a Master of Education in English/Rhetoric, National Board Certification in English Language Arts, a K–12 AIG license, and a Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Technical Writing.

In the classroom, I hope that my nontraditional path and my family’s roots—both my husband and I as first-generation college students—help my students see that success does not always follow a traditional path. With hard work, dedication, and support, they can achieve their goals.
